The rich heritage of Agra city is contributed by the rulers of different dynasties. Among the many rulers the credit of laying the foundation stone of modern Agra goes to the ruler of Delhi Sultanate, Sikandar Lodhi. Later the Mughal emperor Babur spent some of his time and also introduced the concept of square Persian-styled gardens in Agra.
